For Techne & Musike, Cho reconstructed Dear My Artist (a record of two performances simultaneously broadcast in different locations) into a two-channel video. The ancient Greek word techne refers to the etymological origins of “art,” while musike refers to the intangible art achieved through inspiration from the Muses, embodiments of forms such as music and dance. Intersecting Nam June Paik’s artistic body of work with contemporary artistic explorations of art, technology, collaboration, and media, Cho asks whether it may be possible to achieve transcendence of time and place through something similar to Paik’s Wrap around the World.
